Feeling good-----2y/o female chokes on a bean, she’s blue, we fix her in less than 5 min, she comes back to visit the next day. She’s alive and well--good save.

A 40 y/o male with no history is having a heart attack, we do everything right , he goes home to his family in a couple days, he’s alive and well.--good save

A 92y/o female is brought in bleeding in her brain, a lot, the family wisely says ‘just let her go’ she passes peacefully with her family around her. We feel good.

Feeling bad------a 76 y/o male is brought in in cardiac arrest, the family says ‘just save him’ we do everything we can and his heart starts beating again. There are tubes everywhere, he was down approx 45 minutes. He is alive…the family is happy….. his brain is dead. His ribs are broken. He has tubes everywhere, he will never wake up. We don’t feel very good.---bad save

32 y/o female, 9 mos preg, she collapsed at home, she has a huge bleed in her brain.she’s kept alive long enough to deliver her 1st baby. Mom is dead, baby is beautiful. Mixed feelings on this one.

5 drowning victims in one week - 2 are dead, 2 will never be ok again, one made it thru ok. All are under 3 years of age. 3 of them were being watched by a sibling less than 7 years old. Guess which 3. One set of parents doing the right thing. They just bought the house and on the 1st day in, they were putting up the safety fence around the pool and went to answer the phone. (I turned my back for only a couple minutes) she didn’t make it. feeling bad.

WE GET UPSET AND TRY TO TELL THEM TO DO WHAT THE MD'S TELL THEM. ----THE POINT HERE????THEY FRIGGIN' LIVE FOREVER. (NOT THAT I WANT SOMEONE TO DIE)-----------

THEN YOU GET A 68Y/O LADY WHO DOESNT HAVE A HX OF ANYTHING, JUST REMARRIED 3 YEARS AGO. DOESN'T SMOKE, DRINK ETC. AND THEY SHOW UP IN FRONT OF THE ER AND SHE'S ALREADY FUCKING DEAD, OR AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET ANYWAY. JUST GETTING HOME FROM A VACATION. DOESN'T FEEL GOOD, THE TAXI IS REROUTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SHE FUCKING GOES DOWN 10 MIN BEFORE REACHING US. ----WE PULL HER OUT AND DO EVERYTHING WE CAN POSSIBLY DO. BUT NO AIR FOR 10 MIN, IS NOT GOOD. BUT WE FUCKING TRY. THEN THE HUSBAND SAYS TO STOP. THERE IS NO QUALITY OF LIFE LEFT. HE MADE THE CORRECT CHOICE, BUT NOW HE HAS TO BURY HIS 2ND WIFE.

IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT. WE KNOW TO STOP IS THE CORRECT CHOICE. BUT IT'S STILL HARD. WE HAVE HAD PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS WHOSE QUALITY OF LIFE IS SHIT AND WE TRY TO ENCOURAGE DOING THE RIGHT THING. CUZ THEY HAVE BEEN THRU A LOT ALREADY.MOST CONTINUE TO SAY, DO EVERYTHING. SOME SAY JUST LET GO.

GET AN ADVANCED DIRECTIVE AND TAPE IT TO YOUR CHEST. GET IT TATTOO'D. THE STUFF WE DO TO SAVE YOUR LIFE FUCKING HURTS. AND WE WILL DO IT. THE LAW SAYS SO. WE WILL BREAK YOUR RIBS, PUT TUBES EVERYWHERE. STICK YOU WITH THE BIGGEST NEEDLES. GIVE YOU ALL OF THE DRUGS. AND BASICALLY MAKE YOU A FRESH CHOICE SALAD BAR, JUST TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.. SOMETIMES IT SUCKS.
